Different types of exam anxiety
The first type of exam anxiety is that you sleep poorly the days before the exams because you are fretting about the exam. The second type of exam anxiety tends to be exam stress. Your body then makes extra large amounts of adrenaline. This makes your heart beat fast and your hands tremble. Furthermore, you feel very agitated. Do you recognize this from previous exams or exciting situations? Then our advice is to make an appointment with the doctor well in advance. The doctor may then choose to prescribe propranolol. Propranolol is a drug that counteracts the effect of adrenaline in the body. This makes you feel more relaxed and makes it easier to calmly take the exam. Propranolol is usually used for high blood pressure. When the doctor writes a prescription, also ask for a test tablet. Then you can take a test dose a few days before the exam to see if you tolerate this drug well.
