Do you have questions about your medication or its use? At the pharmacy, you can get a so-called "pharmaceutical consultation. This is a conversation in which we discuss your care question together. We give you explanations and advice about your medication, tailored to your situation.
What is a pharmaceutical consultation?
A pharmaceutical consultation is a conversation between you and the pharmacist or pharmacy assistant. We discuss your question about, for example:
- How to use your medications safely.
- Whether your medications work well with other medications you are taking.
- How to prevent or reduce side effects.
How does a consultation work?

Before: You ask your health care question or the pharmacist finds it important to get in touch with you.

During the consultation: We will discuss your question in a calm and "structured" conversation. Together we review your medication history and any available lab values. If necessary, we consult with the doctor or other health care provider.

Advice: You get advice that fits your situation and your medication use. We answer your questions and make sure all the information is clear. We record the conversation in your pharmaceutical file.
When is such a consultation possible?
There are several situations in which a consultation with the pharmacist may be helpful, for example:
- If you want to stop or take less of a medication, such as a stomach protector or medication for gloom.
- If you have an increased risk of falling or have already fallen.
- If you have doubts about taking medication on time and properly.
- If you have questions about switching medications.
- If you have concerns about possible side effects of medications.
