Medicine Talk
Misuse of medication can lead to unpleasant situations. For example, the effect of your therapy can be less and it can also be dangerous. Misuse of medication is more common in people who take more than five medications. This is why the Public Health Inspectorate requires the pharmacy to conduct such a monitoring interview with you. This can be done at the pharmacy or at your home.
What questions can you expect?
The pharmacist will go over a questionnaire with you. If necessary, the pharmacist will go over other information with you.
- about your actual drug use, "if necessary" use and use of self-care drugs;
- whether you sometimes forget medication and whether you deviate from the prescribed use;
- whether you are aware of why you are taking these drugs;
- whose prescriber prescribed the medication;
- if the treatment is effective, if your symptoms have (mostly) disappeared or if you still have symptoms;
- if you experience any side effects;
- if you experience any use problems, for example swallowing problems, or using an inhaler. Or that the package may be difficult for you to open;
- if you have concerns, expectations, wishes and questions about current therapy and previously used medication;
- if you see opportunities to improve compliance.
