Proud of collaboration

Although she cannot pinpoint a specific moment, Evelien is especially proud of the collaboration with her colleagues. "Together we manage to provide patients with their medication despite drug shortages. Good communication and love for the profession make that possible." This team approach not only strengthens the bond between them, but also ensures that patients can count on getting the care they need.

Building a bond of trust

Evelien has been working in the pharmacy for three years now, one of which as an assistant. Many patients are regular visitors, which gives her the opportunity to build a bond of trust. "It is important that patients feel at ease and dare to share their health questions. That's how you create a real connection." That personal attention makes her work extra valuable.

A team that motivates

The close-knit team in which Evelien works plays a major role in her job satisfaction. "We motivate each other when necessary and share experiences, both work-related and private. Feeling comfortable with your colleagues is hugely important in this profession." This positive work atmosphere helps Evelien stay motivated even on busy days. "Knowing that I am helping patients get their medicines is very satisfying."

The challenges of healthcare

Evelien is open about the challenges in healthcare, such as the recent strikes. "It's sad because it causes stress and workload. But they are necessary to ensure that we can continue to work safely with enough assistants." She feels her work is not always recognized. "Many people think we only put labels on boxes. But thanks to the strikes, more people have let us know that they appreciate our work. That does some good."

A versatile profession

Evelien enjoys inspiring others to become a pharmacy assistant. "The work is incredibly versatile: from consulting with doctors to helping patients with questions. You learn something new every day and work both independently and as part of a team. It is challenging and rewarding work that will always be needed."

With her enthusiasm and dedication, Evelien shows how valuable and meaningful her profession is. An inspiring example on this Day of Job satisfaction in Healthcare!
