Safe use of medications

Medicines work best when you use them properly. Here it is important that you use the right dosage, take the medicine at the right time and use it in the right way.

The role of the pharmacy
In the pharmacy, the pharmacist or the assistant checks the prescriptions from the doctors. Here they check, for example:
- Whether there are no problems with the other drugs you are already taking. So it is important that the pharmacy knows which drugs you are using.
- Whether the drug is safe in your situation. Think about allergies, pregnancy / lactation or conditions. The pharmacy needs this information to be able to pay attention to that.
- Whether the prescribed dosage is right. This dosage can vary depending on your symptoms, age, weight and how your kidneys work. This is checked when you are prescribed.

Explanations in the pharmacy
When a new drug is issued, you will be given a clear explanation of how to take your medication and how to use it. For example, explanations may be given about:
- how the drug works
- how the drug should be used
- the possible side effects
- how to store the drug

Medicine use in health care facilities
The pharmacy also works with health care workers who administer drugs to patients. By this we mean, for example, home care, but also the staff at healthcare facilities. The pharmacist then makes a list of all the drugs a person uses see care. This is called an administration list.
This list is often prepared electronically for the caregiver. This so the care can sign off on what drugs have been given.

Using drugs can be quite difficult. If you have a question or want to discuss something with your pharmacy, we are happy to help! Send a message via the MGn app or email the pharmacy, of course you can also walk in to ask your question.
