Pigment spots are dark spots on your skin that are caused by a buildup of melanin, the pigment that gives your skin its color. They can appear due to various causes, such as aging, hormonal changes and especially sun exposure. It is therefore important to properly protect your skin from the sun to prevent or reduce pigmentation.

One of the best ways to prevent pigmentation is by using sunscreen. Here are some tips to help you protect your skin:

1. Use a sunscreen with a high SPF

Always choose a sunscreen with an SPF of at least 30. This provides good protection from the sun's harmful UV rays. Apply the cream generously to all exposed areas of your skin at least 20 minutes before going outside.

2. Reapply regularly

Sunscreen loses its effectiveness after a few hours, especially if you sweat or swim. Therefore, reapply every two hours, and more often if you have been in the water.

3. Protect yourself with clothing

In addition to sunscreen, you can also protect yourself by wearing protective clothing. Consider a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses and clothing that covers your arms and legs.

4. Avoid the sun during the hottest part of the day

The sun is strongest between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. You should avoid the sun during these hours. During these hours, try to seek shade or stay indoors to protect your skin.

5. Use products to treat pigment spots

If you already have pigment spots, you can use special creams that lighten these spots. Ingredients such as vitamin C, niacinamide or retinol can help even out the skin, but the chances of the spots disappearing are slim. Ask us in the pharmacy about anti-pigmentation spot cream with SPF 50. Other possible treatments include:
